Jill Hamburg-Coplan is a veteran journalist, freelance writer for international nonprofits and corporations, and a university writing teacher. She began her career with two decades covering breaking news, finance and investing, international development and public policy, religion and social conflict on staff at major newspapers (Newsday), wire services (United Press International- Jerusalem and Bloomberg News-New York) and magazines (Working Woman and BusinessWeek).She has contributed freelance to publications including The New York Times, Martha Stewart Living, Parents, Self, and Barron’s. Her essays have appeared in two literary anthologies, and her journalism has been entered onto the record in public hearings and reprinted in a number of university textbooks.
In 2000, Jill joined the faculty at New York University’s College of Arts & Sciences as an adjunct journalism professor, and she continues to teach there. She was also appointed an adjunct in journalism at St. John’s University in the Department of Mass Communications in 2012. In 2011-2012, Jill was a Fulbright Scholar in China.
